Former nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi has thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for believing and trusting in women leadership.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s JKL Show on Wednesday, Elachi said she has a President who believes in women and supports them.
“I just want to thank my President. Because if it is not of Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, this girl of the village (Elachi) would not be here today shinning with Jeff,” she said.
Elachi was hosted on the show alongside Uasin Gishu County Woman Representative Gladys Sholei and nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Jenifer Shamalla.
Many will remember that Elachi served as nominated Senator between 2013 and 2017 having been nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s The National Alliance (TNA) party, before the outfit folded to form Jubilee Party ahead of the 2017 general elections.
After formation of the Jubilee party, she vied for the Dagorreti parliamentary seat on the ruling party’s ticket, but lost to ODM’s Simba Arati.
She was then elected Nairobi Assembly County Speaker to replace Alex Ole Magelo who did not defend his seat.
Members of the Nairobi County Assembly impeached her in September last year, before the Labour Relations Court reinstated her in May 2019.
She is yet to assume back her office due to what she terms as avoiding drama.
