The campaign which involves checking consumer electricity meters and addressing their concerns, is said to be geared towards increasing customer satisfaction and enhancing the company’s revenue protection initiatives.

"#KnowYourMeter door- to- door campaign has started in Nairobi this morning. The aim is to check your electricity meter and address your concerns. Please provide access to our teams and offer support for improved service. Our staff will be branded with visible job IDs," posted KPLC on their official Twitter handle.

Kenya Power staff from several divisions were dispatched and the public has been urged to provide access to their houses to KPLC teams and offer support for improved service.

The exercise is to be done over the next two months and it will also involve checking if there are any illegal power connections which has been an issue facing the company, prompting it to put its employees on notice of tough legal action should one be found engaging in it.

More of these campaigns will be conducted in other counties at a later date.

KPLC said that it hopes the campaign will help in solving many of the meter concerns by citizens which have been witnessed over the recent past.

Customers have previously complained about overpricing of their meters where some have had to pay up to Sh250,000 in their monthly electricity bill, which was an inflated figure.
