Writing on Twitter on Saturday, the outspoken governing Jubilee Party legislator said that he agreed with urging patience.

However, he said that the initiative would be as good as dead should it seek to champion the interests of individuals.

According to him, Kenya is poor not because of lack of laws but because of selfish leaders.

"I agree with those who say we should wait for the BBI report to determine whether we support it or not, but it should be noted that, if it's agenda is not to better the lives of poor Kenyans then it is as good as dead. Kenyans are not poor because we lack laws, but selfish leaders, " Didmus Barasa wrote.

The Deputy President Dr William Ruto-backing MP's intervention came just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta encouraged politicians to be patient and not to shred the BBI before its contents are made public.

It is not clear when the highly anticipated report will be handed over to Uhuru and Raila let alone its contents made public.

Raila Odinga, BBI's chief exponent, has also been part of the patience chorus.
