Uhuru went to Kabarak in Nakuru to personally convey his condolences to the man considered his political mentor.

The head of state was received by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi at around 12 noon.

Uhuru condoled with the bereaved family and assured them of his support during this period of mourning.

Kenyatta paid tribute to Jonathan, who died last week, describing him as his friend and a brother, according to a press statement from the State House.

The Standard also reported that the President had promised the family 'full State support' during preparations to give the late a decent send-off.

Jonathan succumbed to cancer on Friday while undergoing treatment at a Nakuru hospital.

Friends and relatives have been visiting his home Kabimoi, in Eldama Ravine, to deliver their messages of condolence to his widow Silvia.

The family is yet to update the public on the late rally driver's burial arrangements.
