Police officers on Sunday arrested two suspects in connection with the Mandera-bound bus attack.
The driver and one passenger of the bus were arrested as investigations into the incident gains momentum. The duo is set to be grilled over their role in the ambush masterminded by the Al Shabab militia.
The attack left eleven suspects dead including the police officers. The passenger was arrested after it emerged that he kept on using his phone while travelling.
Eight police officers were murdered during the incident with two others still missing.
The militia also executed one doctor and two civilians in one of the worst attacks in the history of this nation. It also emerged that the attacked separated the non-locals and locals before they allowed the bus to proceed.
The bus, which was involved in the shooting, was taken to the Kutulo Police Station in Wajir County where it is currently being held. Leaders from different parts of the nation have condemned the attack.
Led by Eldas Member of Parliament Adan Keynan, the leaders have termed the attack as not only cowardly but also inhuman.
“This a criminal gang that has no religion…that has no human face…that has no value at all,” he said.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Wajir mortuary.
