Private investigator Jane Mugo was on Wednesday arraigned before the Milimani Law Courts over allegations of threatening to kill two people.
The court heard that Jane Mugo had on diverse dates threatened to kill Patrick Mugusia Kefa and Deepa Shah.
On the first charge, Mugo is said to have allegedly pulled out a pistol and threatened Kefa with it on August 15, 2019, at the New Muthaiga Inn, Nairobi.
On the second charge, she is accused of threatening to kill Shah on February 4, 2019, at Kyuna Close within Spring Valley in Gigiri.
Mugo denied the charges before the court and filed an application to be released on bail.
The prosecution did not object to the bail application and however asked the court to compel the investigator to have her firearm certificate verified at the DCI offices.
Mugo's lawyer Danstan Omari objected the prosecution’s application on grounds that the police have been harassing and intimidating his client.
“Your honour this is the greatest witch-hunt by State through police, Jane has been one of their undercover operatives, it’s an action against one of them. Your honour we want the firearm certificate verified by Firearm Licensing Board, we are opposed to the DCI offices,” said Omari as quoted by the Standard.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi in his ruling ordered that Mugo on the first charge be released on a Sh300,000 bond with an alternative of Sh200,000 cash bail.
On the second count, the court granted Mugo a Sh200,000 bond or Sh100,000 cash bail.
The case will be heard on October 15, 2019.
