Lillian Nyamweya, a nominated MCA, argued that illicit brew businesses in Nyamira county are rampant despite the threats Mr. Matiang'i has been issuing to illicit brew makers and sellers.

"Matiang'i has done too little in the fight against illicit brews more especially chang’aa. The lives of the youth in deep villagers is being ruined by consumption of local brew," she said.

She called on the former education Cabinet Secretary to move with speed to ensure the sell and making of local brew comes to and end in Nyamira.

"Charity begins at home. Matiang'i must order police officers, local chiefs and Nyumba Kumi officials to apprehend illicit brew makers to be arraigned in court for the sake of the future of our youth who have ventured into chang'aa consumption," she noted.

According to the MCA, some police and chiefs have been collecting bribe from the brewers so that they can continue selling and making chang'aa.

She asked parents to monitor their children closely especially during this long December holiday.
