Kimani Ichung’wa is serving his second term as Kikuyu MP.
He was first elected in the 2013 general election on a TNA party ticket.
In the 2017 polls, the youthful MP retained the seat unopposed.
An accountant by profession, Ichung’wa is the current chair of the National Assembly Budget Committee.
The vocal lawmaker is also a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto and has assured the DP of Mt Kenya’s support in 2022.
Before joining active politics in 2013, Ichung’wa worked as:
1. Senior Accountant
In 2008, Ichung’wa worked as a senior accountant at the Madison Insurance group.
2. Financial controller - Standard Group
Before joining Madison Insurance, the youthful MP worked as a financial controller at the Standard group.
3. Finance Director - Safex Africa
In 2011, he worked as the Director of Finance and Administration at Safex Africa Limited.
Ichung’wa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi.
He is also a certified public accountant.
He schooled at Alliance Boys High school and Kikuyu Township primary school in Kiambu.
Political pundits observe that Ichung’wa is among youthful politicians to watch in the 2022 succession politics.
There is speculation that the Kikuyu MP could be fronted as DP Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 general elections.
