Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has disowned information doing rounds on social media Deputy President William Ruto will on Friday preside over a fund drive in Kisii aimed at supporting local artists from the region.
Speaking on Monday when he met with the officials of the Gusii Gospel Artists Association in his office, Maangi termed the information false and misleading.
The Deputy Governor, however, admitted that there is an ongoing plan to hold a fund drive but was quick to note that no definite date has been set.
"It has come to my attention that there is a card doing rounds bearing my name to the effect that there will be a funds drive in support of artists in Kisii this coming Friday 02/08/2019. Let me set the record straight, that while I am aware of plans to hold such an event to help the artists build a studio, no definite date has been set largely due to the logistics involved with the stakeholders," said Maangi.
He said once plans for the fund drive are complete, the dates and venue for the event will be made public.
"When the logistics will be cleared and a date agreed upon, the message will be circulated properly. Any other message contrary to what I have stated above should be treated as misleading and basically wrong," he stated.
