Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei and his Meru Counterpart Mithika Linturi have faulted Interior CS Fred Matiang'i for aborting a trip to Kapenguria.
This follows a landslide that has wiped out the area and left 52 dead.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday, the senators claimed that it is evident that the CS is not committed to serving Kenyans.
Cherargei argued that the CS would have used road transport to reach the area if claims of bad weather are anything to go by.
"It is 1.5Hrs by road to West Pokot, this is lack of commitment," said Cherargei.
On his part, Linturi questioned why Deputy President William Ruto managed to access the area yet the CS claims the weather was not good. Linturi said that the CS has no moral authority to defend himself after he cut short the trip.
"How then did the DP. who is more senior than them get there?" he posed.
The CS was forced to cut short his trip to the area after he landed in Eldoret. He said that efforts to rescue the victims are ongoing, adding that more measures have been put in place to salvage the situation.
"State officers, including CS @EugeneLWamalwa, @IG_NPS, Rift Valley RC and I have been compelled to land at Eldoret Int'l Airport on our way to West Pokot due to inclement weather. We hope to make there soon to appraise recovery & response operations and make possible adjustments," he said.
