The Cabinet Secretary of Education Prof George Magoha has ordered the closure of the Greenfield Academy School in Mombasa as the crackdown on schools with substandard structures continues apace.
Speaking to members of the press on Friday, the tough-talking cabinet secretary said that the private school which has over 400 pupils had not met standards of operation.
"But for today since I am in this area, I am shutting Greenfields Academy. It has 445 students," the education CS said.
The announcement of the closure comes just days after a building collapsed at the Precious Talents Top School, killing at least eight pupils and injuring dozens more.
Since the tragedy that has left the country reeling, the Education CS has been on a whirlwind tour of the country in a bid to identify schools that have structures that could pose a potential danger to learners.
Greenfield Academy closure follows the closures of schools in Kibera and Kawangware.
Investigations undertaken by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are ongoing with the view of pressing charges against those behind the ill-fated Precious Talents Top School building.
Critics have charged that the closures are knee-jerk reactions that do not address the fundamental issues plaguing the education sector.
