The viral song 'Kaa na Mamayako' by fast-rising sensational Kenyan boy band Ochunglo family has gained more than 1 million views on YouTube.
This is the third song by the three man band consisting of Benzema, Dmore, and Nellythegoon to cross 1 million views. The other songs which crossed 1 million views include; 'Krimino' and 'Na iwake'.
The band took to their Instagram page to appreciate their fans for the support they showed the song.
"Wolan‼️ Shukran sana for 1 million views pale youtube," a post on Ochunglo family's Instagram page read.
The song 'Kaa na Mamayako' translates to 'Stay with your mother'. The phrase was derived from a statement from West Pokot governor Prof John Lonyangapuo.
The governor was talking about the heated politics in the country and whom he together with the people of West Pokot will support when he stated the sentiments. Ochunglo family shortly after creatively came up with a song from the governor's statement.
The band has propelled the new wave of Kenyan music which has won the hearts of the country. This year has seen the rise of young musicians with a unique niche of music which some have labelled as the identity of Kenyan music.
Some of the other bands which have been credited of the identity of this niche include Ethic entertainment, Boondocks Gang and Sailors.
