Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) secretary general Wilson Sossion explained why Dr Joyce Laboso was elected Bomet governor in 2017.
Speaking on Monday at the Lee Funeral Home to members of the press, where the body of the governor was taken, Mr Sossion contended that the exemplary work done by Laboso in Sotik was the basis upon which she was elected governor.
He described her as a great educationist whose work and sense of public service had helped put a smile on many school-going children.
"She was in the front line of improving education in Sotik Constituency and it is that good work and her stance in ensuring every kid had access to quality education that gave her the opportunity to be governor.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominated member of parliament went on say that even as governor Dr Joyce Laboso continued with her impeccable work in education.
Sossion said that teachers across the country regarded the former Sotik MP as an inspiration and were proud of her.
