Kisii university chaplain Lawrence Nyaanga has revealed why graduate youths in Kisii county have been rendered useless and unproductive.
According to the long-serving Catholic priest, most youths in the county are drug addicts something that has made them unproductive despite being graduates.
"Our youths are no longer productive after parents invested in them through education. Most youths are abusing drugs and consuming illicit brew which is being sold carelessly across the county," he noted.
He blamed police officers for sleeping on the job.
"Police officers instead of arresting drug barons and illicit brewers, they are the ones at the front line helping the dealers to continue selling illicit liquor and drugs such as bhang," he claimed.
Angered Nyaanga urged Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang'i to consider transferring current police officers in the region to bring new officers who will fight drug abuse.
"Kisii county needs a different face of police officers because the current officers have failed to end illegal businesses in the county. Lives of youths are being ruined because drug cartels are walking free selling the drugs in broad daylight without any legal action being taken against them," he added.
