Angry President Uhuru Kenyatta convened two security meetings on Friday evening before jetting out to Washington DC, reports the Standard.
Precipitated by a secret dossier by Muilti-Agency Task Team, Uhuru is said to have been angered by a section of corrupt individuals in his government.
Already, says the Standard, the Muilti-Agency team has raided a home to an aide to senior government official on Wednesday night as graft war is being taken to the doorsteps of government bureaucrats.
“President Kenyatta is disappointed and feels betrayed by his close lieutenants, senior people are implicated in the dossier,” a source privy to the dossier’s details told the Sunday Standard.
At State House and Harambee House on Friday, Uhuru is said to have hosted senior security officers following the secret report that implicates 'untouchables' in his government.
This week, more arrests are expected with the team executing orders said to be having full blessings of the Head of State.
“The president is determined to exterminate the monster of corruption and the ripple effects of the purge targeting the big fish and whales will likely determine or scuttle the 2022 succession politics,” another source said.
A number of ministers among them Fred Matiang'i, Henry Rotich, Adan Mohammed and Charles Keter have been implicated in corruption deals and incompetency and their fate remains unclear.
Further, the purge on graft is causing jitters in Jubilee administration with supporters of DP William Ruto dismissing it as 'witch-hunt'.
