In an interview with the Nation on Sunday, Tuju, formerly the Rarieda Member of Parliament, said that members accused of graft will not be allowed to vie for any leadership slot.

Murathe has thrown his weight behind the announcement, saying that according to Jubilee's code of ethics, such people should not be allowed to go for leadership positions.

He declared that such people will not receive the green light from the party to join others in the races for their preferred positions.

"I totally concur with Mr Tuju's sentiments. Jubilee Party has a code of ethics and any persons associated and implicated in any form of corruption will not be cleared to vie in any position in the forthcoming elections," the former Gatanga parliamentarian told the paper, Sunday.

However, the announcement was dismissed by National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, who holds the opinion that such declarations are not Tuju's to make.

He said that similarly, it's not upon Tuju to determine who are corrupt and those who are not.  The Garissa Town MP him to leave such to the Secretariat and the National Executive Council (NEC).

“The decisions of the party are from the rank and file and are anchored in the constitution. Whether corrupt or not, it is not Tuju to determine who is corrupt or not; that is the work of institutions provided for in the constitution. Mr Tuju is not a DPP, the Inspector General of Police or even the auditor general," he opined.

This is not the first time Tuju is getting dismissed by party members allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

They have repeatedly accused him of waging war against the DP, undermining him as the party deputy leader and trying to scuttle his 2022 presidential bid.
