Residents of Buyonge location in Kisii County woke up in a shock on Saturday after they realised the body that was buried a weak ago is missing from the grave.
According to the family members, they became suspicious when they realised the grave had gone down a few feet and that’s when they called upon locals to witness the incident.
“When we called the locals the youths decided to dig the grave to confirm whether the body was in the grave and shockingly they only found out that it was the coffin alone that was there and the body had been removed by unknown people,” said Isaac Rayori a family member
Rayori further said that they suspect the body was taken by witches for their rituals and called upon locals to ensure that the people who did that are brought to book.
The area chief Robert Isoe who confirmed the incident said he received a call from the family and he also witnessed that the body of a middle-aged woman was missing despite being buried a week ago.
“I have already informed the police who have assured me that they will be on the scene for further investigations,” said Isoe
Isoe pleaded with the locals to remain calm as they will ensure that those involved are arrested by all means.
