South Mugirango Member of Parliament Sylvanus Osoro defended the deputy President against the statement made by the sports PS.

Speaking in the Banana Peddler live facebook show,  the legislator claimed the deputy President is part of the presidency and therefore the pledge was made on behalf of the government.

The MP who is a close friend to DP Ruto said he was there when Ruto made the promise, also present was Sports Minister and that means he was speaking as a government.

He said the reason as to why the money has not yet been released is due to the bureaucracy involved in getting government money.

"The process of releasing government money is not instant," the legislator said.

He added that the national team leadership has also not followed up and given the many activities happening daily in government,  lack of follow up can lead to delays.

"When government commits to do something, the person who is supposed to follow is the receiver of the promise," he added.

The legislator further said the reason why the parliament has not followed to fast-track the release of money is that they know the process and it's not as simple as well as lack of documentation to follow up.

He asked citizens to stop politicizing the issue simply because it's DP Ruto who made the announcement.
