The arrest of National Treasury CS Henry Rotich and other officials over the loss of funds in the construction of Arror and Kimwarer dams estimated at a cost of Sh46 billion is laudable, Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said.
In a series of tweets, Mutua urged the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Nordin Haji to go after Big Fish.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement leader, who has expressed interest in the 2022 race, said that President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government will only win the war against graft if the big fish are also arrested and charged in the court of law.
He also reiterated that the country has continued to lag behind in the fight against the vice because of the selective process of probing the suspects.
“Kenyans still expect more BIG FISH and even BIGGER FISH to be apprehended and charged with corruption. It is, however, important to note that the war on corruption can’t be won if cases take forever to be concluded, “he tweeted.
Ruto and his accomplices have since denied 15 corruption charges levelled against them.
The accused appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti on Tuesday.
Haji ordered for the arrest of Rotich alongside 27 other officials from the National Treasury. He also appealed to Chief Justice David Maraga to support Haji in the war against graft.
