A family in Naivasha is in grief after a man accidentally crushed his two-year-old daughter to death while reversing his car at home.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru who confirmed the incident said they have launched investigations into the death of the girl who was accidentally run over by his father at their Ndabibi home Tuesday morning.
“According to initial investigations, the man accidentally ran over the minor killing her on the spot and we have opened an inquest file following the incident,” said Waweru as quoted by standardmedia.co.ke.
The OCPD said the body was collected and taken to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.
A neighbor, Jennifer Wambui said the middle-aged man was reversing the family's vehicle as he planned to go to a nearby trading centre when the incident happened.
Wambui said when the man was leaving the house, her daughter ran behind the car and he reversed the vehicle only to crash the baby killing her on the spot.
“It’s one of the saddest incidents in this area as the minor followed the father to the car who unknowingly killed her in the process,” she said.
