Police officers in Kisii County are hunting down a man who allegedly raped a minor and went into hiding.
Kisii police commander Martin Kibet said said the suspect identified as Nyanami Morumbwa committed the heinous act to a standard five girl in Bobasi Bointang'are ward on Friday.
"The suspect after committing the incident he went into hiding after the minor reported what had happened to her to her mother. We will do everything possible to ensure the suspect is brought to book," he stated.
Mr Kibet called on members of the public to report the suspect to police anytime they will spot him in the area.
"People like Morumbwa should be sent to jail because they don't fit living in the same villages with minors. Anyone who spots him should report to police," he added.
He appealed to parents to take care for their kids at home and make sure that they are protected from any harm.
"Parents should not send their children when it starts getting dark to local shops because sex pests may end up raping them," added the police commander.
