Police in Eldoret have arrested one suspect believed to be behind a syndicate involved in manufacturing fake money.
According to Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Johnston Ipara, the suspect was arrested after they received a tip-off from members of the public.
“We have arrested one suspect by the name Allan Kipruto aged 34 years who is involved in making fake money,” he said.
Ipara who spoke to the press at Kiambaa Police post on Monday said the suspect was arrested at a local bar where he took the police to his home where he was conducting his business.
The police also recovered the safe box, briefcase and a machine used to make fake money.
“The amount of fake money that was recovered is 400,000 European pound, Sh5.8 million, the total amount converted into Kenya currency is Sh45.8 million,” noted the county boss.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are over.
Ipara also noted that they are still looking for other suspects involved in the illegal business.
He warned those involved in the business that their days are numbered and soon will face the full force of the law.
