Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko will on Sunday be in Kisii to celebrate politician Don Bosco Gichana's first anniversary after his release from a Tanzanian jail.
Gichana had on Wednesday announced that he will hold a thanksgiving service at Kisii University to mark the anniversary.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the vocal politician confirmed that the Nairobi county boss will join him in the celebrations which will be held on November 10, 2019.
Gichana also revealed the role Sonko played when he was in prison and also pointed out that Sonko contributed Sh2 million shillings to help in securing his release in 2018.
"His Excellency Gov Sonko has agreed to join us. As I count hours to my 1st Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass at Kisii University and fundraiser to start a foundation for the Chapel as my promise to God if he delivers me out of bondage I'll never forget his house. Gov Sonko has been with me throughout the journey plus he contributed 2 million towards my release among others whom I've mentioned previously," read the post in part.
In 2018, a court in Arusha sentenced Gichana to five years in prison and fined him Sh15 million after he pleaded guilty to money laundering and crimes of conspiracy.
However, considering he had been detained since March 2013, the court ruled that he would secure his release once he pays the fine in full.
