Political leaders from Uasin Gishu County have condemned former Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe for making anti-William Ruto remarks.
This comes after Murathe noted that 'we will all be finished' if Deputy President Ruto clinches the presidency in the 2022 polls.
Murathe made the remarks on Saturday night during Tony Gachoka's birthday party.
The vocal politician who has on several occasions vowed to block Ruto's 2022 bid further opined that ODM Party leader Raila Odinga is the only politician who can beat Ruto in the upcoming general election.
“If there is somebody who can stop that guy (Ruto) from becoming president, it is the former prime minister. There is nobody else. Our main aim is to make sure that person (Ruto) does not become president because if he does we are all finished," said Murathe as quoted by the Standard.
Reacting to Murathe's remarks, Uasin Gishu leaders led by Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno and Uasin Gishu County Assembly Leader of Majority Josephat Lowoi said his utterances are uncalled for and are not expected from a person of his caliber.
“How will we be finished if we vote in the deputy president? He should explain to Kenyans what he meant. I think this man has misplaced priorities and he fears good leadership. We should ignore him he is someone of little knowledge," said Chemno.
Speaking in Eldoret Town on Tuesday, the leaders said Kenyans will vote for Ruto no matter what Murathe and his group plan against the DP.
“I want to tell Murathe that we are ready to vote for William Ruto whether it is a mistake or not. We are ready to die with him and we don’t care because we know he is a good leader that is why Uhuru Kenyatta selected him as his deputy for ten years. William Ruto has been tried and tested and found to be a good leader,” said Josephat Lowoi.
