Former United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Tony Blair was among public figures who paid tribute to former Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore who lost a vicious battle with Cancer.
Speaking on Thursday during a memorial service in Nairobi, Blair weighed in on the qualities that made Bob a great leader.
He hailed the former Safaricom boss as a man who was not afraid to take out positions, and to stand up for what he believed in.
"He was a great leader and he was a great leader because he was unafraid to take positions; unafraid to stand up for what he believed but also because he was an effective man, he got things done. He knew what his challenges were, he set out to meet them and he met them ," Mr Blair said.
Mr Collymore was cremated at the Kariakor crematorium just a day after he died.
Other high-profile leaders that gave their tributes include; President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy Dr William Ruto.
All guests who spoke at the memorial service praised Bob's leadership qualities, and his dedication to change the lives of Kenyans.
The presence of Mr Blair at the memorial service went to show how far the appeal of the former Safaricom chief executive went.
