Haji says that his office is independent and does not take orders from any quarters.

In a briefing with journalists on Tuesday, the DPP said that he has the constitutional mandate to independently decide on who to arrest and prosecute based on the evidence presented to him by investigating agencies.

“I don’t take orders from the executive or anywhere, I decide on who to charge in court basing on the available evidence,” he said.

The DPP said that he will not spare anyone implicated in corruption.

He said that his office in collaboration with other agencies is working on the clock to ensure the cases before the court are expedited.

The DPP who hails from Garissa county said that he will not be shaken, adding that he will go for small fish, big fish and even the whales in the fight against corruption.

On Tuesday, Haji ordered the arrest and prosecution of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu over corruption charges.

Mwilu will plead to corruption charges on Wednesday.
