It is unfortunate that Kenyans did not learn much from the attack until we were hit again following the DusitD2 attack.

Parents are partly to blame for what befell this nation.

Radicalisation has become common among Kenyan youths.

Both boys and girls are being radicalised to join militia groups such as Al Shabaab.

Time has come for parents to wake up from slumber and teach their children.

Here are some of the ways parents can stop their children from being radicalised:

1. Listen to their fears

Never ignore the fears of your children

Parents who neglect the concerns of their children end up regretting.

Remember, your children are ever interacting with different people that you may not be aware of their backgrounds and upbringing.

Children need guidance and not condemnation.

2. Be close to them

 Spend time with your children.

Do not stay for weeks without seeing your children yet there is nothing you are doing over the same.

Children need special care, and you must make sure they are given the same all the time.

Despite your busy schedule, always create some time to be with your children and interact with them to find out how they are doing.

3. Take them to school

An idle mind is always the devil’s workshop.

Make sure your children get the education they deserve.

Education will help your children make better decisions in life.

They will learn the values of life to make them better persons at the end of the day.
