Several residents of Kisii County on Friday thronged to Gusii stadium to welcome the flamboyant business tycoon Don Bosco Gichana back home after he was released from a Tanzanina jail.
Mr. Gichana spent 5 years behind bars over money laundering.
Residents who spoke to Hivisasa at Gusii stadium said Mr. Gichana should be welcomed home after the five years in prison.
"He is most welcome. I closed my shop at Daraja Mbili to come and witness his grand return," said Timothy Onyonka.
Raphael Orina said a section of local leaders who were opposed with Mr. Gichana's return were doing so to get political mileage.

"It is evident that some politicians aided the arrest of Mr. Gichana. His release from prison caught them off balance. I am here to welcome Bosco home," he said.
Byron Mochere accused Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka for plotting to interrupt the historic grand return.
"Gichana is the next kingpin in Kisii County. Those who wanted to disrupt his grand return were mislead," said Mochere.
Agnes Morira said she could not miss the historic return of Mr. Gichana who bought a Hammer for the NASA leader Raila Odinga.
