Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has spoken after a video of a Chinese national surfaced where he is recorded referring to President Uhuru Kenyatta as a monkey.
The Chinese national identified as Liu Jiaqi was conversing with another man, a Kenyan but he would not hold back his negative comments.
The Kenyan man asked him why he was diverting his anger on him and he responded by saying that all Kenyans are like monkeys, “even Uhuru Kenyatta.”The Chinese man did not stop there. He went ballistic saying he hates Kenya because “it smells bad and poor”.
However, he said he is in the country because “money is important.”
Angered by these comments, Sonko took to his Facebook page on Wednesday saying the Chinese national should be arrested.
“Who knows where the construction site of this WHITE MONKEY IS? Tumuinue sai na awekwe kwa BUTT mpaka cell," read Sonko's post.
Kenyans though had varied reactions to the insults by the Chinese man. Some said that with the rate at which Kenya continues to borrow from China, such an eventuality is a possibility.
However, some said the statements made by the Chinese national were insulting and there is the need for change in how Kenya partners with China.
In the recent past, there have been piling complaints from Kenyans working at the SGR over alleged mistreatment by the Chinese who are in charge of the firm going by an agreement between Kenya and China.
