Amani National Coalition (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has said the truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his political rival Raila Odinga is an obstacle to the war on graft.

Speaking in Nakuru on Sunday, Mudavadi said the two leaders have been engaging in ‘handshake talk’ as thieves milk public coffers dry.

“The handshake is protecting some people from action over graft,” Mudavadi said.

The ANC leader said Kenyans should now see more of handcuffs and not ‘rhetoric on the handshake’.

President Kenyatta and Raila made peace on March 9, 2018 in what has now become to be known as the Handshake.

Mudavadi, who was one of NASA’s principals during the 2017 presidential race where Raila was flying the coalition’s flag, said Uhuru and Raila should now focus on ensuring that those mentioned in graft are charged.

He faulted the government for ‘lying to Kenyans’ over several dam projects ongoing in the country.

“They lied that Itare Dam is 49% complete while in a real sense no work is ongoing,” Mudavadi said.

The leader said the country will lose billions which were allocated to the Itare dam, Arror dam and Kimwarer dam.

“If need be we as ANC will be forced to resort to mass action to call the government’s action on all these scandals,” he added.
