Civil societies organizations in Kisumu County have rejected a newly published health bill, citing major loopholes which will affect service of healthcare.
Under the patronage of the People's Health Movement (PHM), they want the Kisumu County Assembly to come up with another document and have offered to aid in the process.
They say that the bill does not define the term limits of Health Management Committees, and have also faulted its dictates in the composition of hospital management boards.
The group also includes Community Action for Sustainable Development which is represented by Owino Aol, PHM Coordinator Judy Atieno and Inuka Success Youth officials.
They want public participation involving health stakeholders before a compilation of the document, as they also want the law on licensing of private facilities reviewed.
Mr Aol called for more time to enable the groups to go through the bill and bring in their own proposals.
"The time slot is not sufficient for us to do anything tangible. We must have ample time to read and discuss the bill," he told the Standard on Tuesday.
County Health Executive Judith Attyang has called for calm, saying that the bill is still in its infancy states, saying that there is no cause for alarm.
