A security guard at Ogicha primary school in Kisii County was on Monday arrested following the theft of school property.
Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet said the guard whose identity could not be revealed is helping police in investigations aimed at arrest other suspects who have been stealing from various schools in Kitutu Chache South Sub-County.
"Thugs broke into Ogicha school and stole laptops among other property worth thousands of shillings. The night guard failed to report the theft to the headteacher only for the day time guard to report the matter," said Kibet who noted that the school headteacher reported the theft to police promoting the night guard to go into hiding.
The commander said they suspect the night guard might have colluded with thugs to steal at the school.
"Police searched for the night guard and managed to apprehend him. He is in lawful custody helping police to arrest other thieves before arraigning them in a court of law," he noted.
The police boss confirmed that they will not spare any resident who fails to report crime incidents.
Kibet further urged residents to help police arrest another night guard attached to St Patrick's primary school in Mosocho following the theft of two laptops and a projector.
