An incident on Tuesday where an unidentified person secretly shaved a corpse's hair and disappeared with it in Chulaimbo has shocked many residents.
The deceased identified as Emmanuel Omuke collapsed and died on Monday night, and was supposed to be rushed to the mortuary on Tuesday morning while burial plans were being scheduled.
However, before the family could transfer the body to the mortuary, his family noticed a strange thing on the body. The hair of the deceased was no more.
The situation caused an uproar, with the family of the deceased pleading for the return of the hair.
According to the late Emmanuel's mother, Leonida Omuke, an unknown person shaved the corpse at night and disappeared with the hair.
“This is unfair. You cannot do this to my son. Thank you for killing him. You can kill all of us,” the mother cried.
According to some of the residents, disappearance of some of the parts of a corpse indicates that someone killed the dead.
Mzee Alex, an elder from Kisumu supported the sentiments noting that parts of the dead body such as nails, and hair are used to prevent the angry spirits of the dead from disrupting the peace of the killer.
