Fire-fighting engines were deployed at around 8pm, just same time as Kisii School was burning few kilometers from Nyamira.

Justus Arani, a Nyamira Town resident said the fire could have been caused by electrical fault in one of the rooms.

"There is nothing to fear. Those peddling political rumours should desist from doing that. This was purely an electrical fault," he stated.

He further said: "I am happy that the county disaster management team responded in time and managed to put the fire off."

There were rumours that intrigues within the county govenment of Nyamira could have led to the fire, as a warning from clashing camps.

Apparently, the KIE is situated only 50 meters from ODM governor John Nyagarama's offices thus the fear.

County Secretary Eric Onchana has been at loggerheads with Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo leading suspension of the former.
