Citizen TV shared a video of a live interview with the legislator on Tuesday morning on their official Facebook page.

According to the legislator, the idea of the Thirdway Alliance augered well with a majority of Kenyans, including her.

"Punguza Mzigo is very nice terminology. It resonates with every Kenyan and resonates with me.I would love to 'Punguza Mzigo' (reduce burden) and it is something we must do," observed Shollei.

She noted that Kenyans should not be misled on which government department ought to have their civil servants reduced in order to reduce the public wage bill.

The county women MP alleged that the national government, especially the executive, takes the lion's share of the annual budget, to finance their bloated wage bill.

Shollei rubbished assertions that it was only the Parliament which contributed to the soaring wage bill, but said that blame should be apportioned to other national government departments as well.

She cited an example of the positions of Chief Administrative Secretaries, as she questioned their necessity.

"In principle, I like Punguza Mzigo but don't tell me the 'mzigo' (burden) is in Parliament. The 'Mzigo' (burden) is across the board," said the women MP.

The Judiciary ex-registrar said she had tabled a bill in Parliament which sought to increase representation for the purpose of gender equality and reduce some unnecessary government posts.
