Speaking on Saturday, the veteran politician said that some of the allocations, though rubbished as bizarre, might be holding some truth not known to many and should be given a keen look.

He noted that the naming of the national government could be proof that some of the money was to be stolen from the public, and given to some top government figures.

According to Wamwere, this could be part of an ongoing trend where county bosses use their powers to repay party bosses for their nomination and election into office.

"Huenda pesa hizi zilikuwa ziibiwe wapewe wakubwa wao wa aitha chama. Mimi naamini kuna pesa zilizokuwa zishapeanwa tayari. (I believe that this is part of an ongoing trade where the money was to be given to party seniors. Its very likely that some money had already been given as gratitude earlier)," he said.

Wamwere was speaking on Radio Sauti ya Mwananchi's Cheche Show on Saturday evening.

He claimed that the revelations could have been steered by some bitter county officers.

He noted that this, if is indeed the case, is very unlikely to be unique to Kiambu or the Jubilee Party, but could be an ongoing business among governors allied to opposition parties as well.

"Huenda kaunti zingine pia zinahusika (there could be other counties also involved in the same)," he added.

According to an audit, the county had allocated money for upkeep of former presidents, and free primary education, which fall under the central government.

Also, some money had been purportedly allocated to fund the ongoing peace talks in South Sudan, raising questions on what the county has to do with international matters.
