Residents living along the Nunow-Modogashe road are set to hold demos on Thursday this week to air their dissatisfaction with the conduct of motorists, who they claim have made the road a killer route.
Led by local boda-boda operators, the locals say long distance vehicles especially trucks openly flout traffic rules thus endangering their lives, those of pedestrians and even livestock.
Speaking to this writer on Sunday, Khalif Sugow who is the chairman of Modikar boda-boda operators said their decision to hold a major demonstration along the road is to compel relevant government agencies to restore sanity along the road which has claimed tens of lives.
"The government should take an action against the rising number of accidents in this road. It is a killer road and we now fear for our lives and our livestock," he said.
The latest incident happened on Saturday when a truck ran over donkeys along the road.
The truck driver never bothered to stop, a fact that angered the residents who now claim the road is making them suffer more.
