A bishop with the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Timothy Gichere, has explained why they will continue receiving donations from politicians.
Speaking at the Murang’ a GK Prison on Sunday during Easter service, Gichere claimed they cannot differentiate clean money and money earned through dubious ways.
According to the ACK bishop, no one should in any way accuse individual (s) as corrupt before the court declares them corrupt.
“When leaders come to church and contribute money with clean heart, we can’t decline because we are not in a position to distinguish money gotten from corruption and we are not there to rebuke and label people as corrupt because that is the obligation of the courts," said Gichere.
“Let the judicial process go on without politicising the war on graft so that the culprits can be arrested and charged,” he added
However, the man of God warned politicians to stop using churches as hate-spreading platforms. Gichere said they should be attending church services for spiritual purposes and not for any other political intentions.
This comes barely weeks after some churches banned politicians from propagating politics in their podiums.
