A court in Nakuru on Monday directed a timber businessman who is accused of beating his security guard to death to take plea on Wednesday.
Through the Deputy Registrar Margaret Kyalo, the court deferred the accused plea after it was known that the trial Judge is away on vacation and is set to be available on Wednesday.
“Plea is hereby deferred. The accused is to appear to the trial judge on Wednesday for directions,” directed Kyalo as quoted by the Standard.
The businessman Benson Muchiri in the company of his friends allegedly beat his watchman to near death at his timberyard for stealing the battery of one of the vehicles parked at the yard.
Molo police commander Isaac Odumbe had said that the deceased was dropped at the station by his employer in a critical state.
“The deceased died while being driven to hospital. He was in a critical state,” said Odumbe.
The accused underwent a mental test last week and was declared fit to stand a murder trial.
According to the charge sheet, the 27-year-old watchman was manning a Timber Yard located at Casino area in Molo Sub-County within Nakuru County belonging to the accused.
He was killed on July 11th.
