Three suspects are being held by police over links related to terrorism after they were arrested on Sunday following attempts to forcefully access a British Army base in Nanyuki.
Confirming the incident on Monday morning, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya reported how the suspects were nabbed on Sunday evening, adding that interrogation for the three by detectives was on-going.
The motive for the attempted entry was not immediately established, but close sources indicate that the three suspects had been spying the base for some time. "They attempted to gain entry to no avail. Most likely they had cameras but an interrogation is still on-going," Natembeya told Nation through the phone.
Reports further point out how the three unsuccessfully failed to secure access into the base before being captured by surveillance cameras.
The footage was then circulated to local enforcers aiding in tracking the suspects until they were arrested at around 1700hrs near Nanyuki Police Station.
Police are yet to provide details regarding identities or origins of the suspects with top security holding a meeting in Nanyuki.
