Nairobi county women representative Esther Passaris has claimed that Embrace Kenya, a group of women leaders advocating for peace and unity was not politicking at all.
Citizen TV shared a live interview with the legislator in their official Facebook page on Thursday morning.
According to Passaris, the team was made up of women leaders because women were the most affected during the post-election violence. She also added that women suffer emotionally from the hatred resulting from succession politics.
The women representative said, "We, as women are the ones who get touched at the end by everything that goes wrong during an election and, with hatred. Is the hatred about how the country is being run? No. It is about succession."
In her argument, Embrace Kenya leaders were neither campaigning for any presidential candidate nor seeking elective seats for themselves.
"Embrace Kenya is not about campaigning. We do not want any position and everybody is welcome to join, including women who are not in leadership today," argued Passaris.
She welcomed every willing woman, whether in a leadership position or not and, who subscribed to the ideology of peace and unity to join them in actualizing the objective of their mission.
The County MP alleged that they were discussing ways of solving the problem disunity and bringing about unity as well as peace in the country.
