A man was found dead in his bed on Tuesday after he left a local chang'aa den in Getare village, Mwamosioma, Kisii County.
The deceased Albert Osoti was found dead by his wife Jackline Bosibori.
According to Bosibori, her husband returned home at 1 pm drunk and went straight to the bedroom to take a nab.
"My husband requested me to take him to bed and left me with his phone. 30 minutes later on of his friends he left behind at the chang'aa den called to confirm whether he arrived safely at home only for me to take the phone to him and find him dead," said the wife in tears.
Villagers described Osoti as a social person who could hardly quarrel with residents.
"The chang'aa den should be investigated to establish whether Osoti was poisoned," suggested Salome Kemunto.
A local chief Joshua Mabuka assured that probe has begun to establish what caused Osoti's death.
He said the 3 friends the deceased was with at the chang'aa den will record statements with police.
"Osoti's body was taken to Hema hospital morgue as probe is ongoing," said Mabuka.
