ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna has hinted out that party leader Raila Odinga will be on the presidential ballot in the 2022 general elections.
There have been speculations all over as to whether Raila should retire from politics or not and some of his critics have pleaded with him to quit active politics and endorse someone else.
But with the effects of the March 9th 2018 handshake deepening day in day out, Raila has since been unclear as to whether he will vie for the top seat for the fifth time in 2022.
But the ODM secretary general who is a close confidante of Raila says that ODM will definitely field a candidate in the next presidential elections and the candidate is none other than Raila Amollo Odinga.
Sifuna who was talking on Radio Citizen on Thursday morning said that a party like ODM is too big to lack a presidential candidate and they will undoubtedly field one in 2022.
“We have been having a presidential candidate in the last three general elections and of course in 2022 there will be a candidate, and in the last three elections our candidate has been honourable Raila, so as per now, he is still our legible presidential candidate in 2022,” he said.
Mr. Sifuna insisted that Raila Odinga is the only man who can take Kenya to another level and maintained that as a party, ODM is ready to embrace the handshake so as to aid in quick social economic and political development.
