The discussion on whether Deputy President William Ruto will become the fifth president of Kenya come 2022 has been the subject of political discussion for the past few months.
Renowned political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on his channel the 5th estate under Fort Hall school of government has weighed into the topic.
According to the analyst, Ruto is responsible for betrayal-like moves by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"During Uhuru's first term, Ruto behaved like a co-president, he saw himself as an equal to Uhuru, he was indecent. If Uhuru has become abusive calling some Ruto MPs 'shenzi' types and labeling others 'tangatanga ' types the reason is simple, it did not go wrong, it started wrong" said the analyst.
"Instead of correcting the wrong during Uhuru's second term Ruto has increased speed in the direction of the wrong. Before Uhuru could warm up his presidential seat after re-election Ruto declared that the seat was his in 2022. He behaved like a man in a hurry to inherit Uhuru," agued the analyst.
The analyst added the many frequent rallies DP Ruto has had in these few months since Uhuru was reelected has not done him good.
"In fact, Ruto's rallies are nothing but a count down, a reminder to Uhuru that his time is coming to an end soon although Uhuru has still 4 years to go."
