The University of Eldoret fraternity is in a sombre mood after one of the students' leaders was murdered by a gang just a few days after elections.
George Ochieng, a first-year who was an elected congressman representing the School of Environmental Science met his untimely death on Saturday after attending a party to welcome the newly elected students' leaders.

The congressman is said to have been escorting two ladies together with a male friend where they were attacked by unknown gang men while they were waiting for the gate to be opened.
The ladies and his friend managed to escape but for Ochieng, he was hit on the head with a blunt object leaving him unconscious. The attackers took away his phone and Sh7,000.
He was then taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town where he was diagnosed with a broken skull leading to internal bleeding.
Unfortunately, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was full and he was therefore transferred to Reale Hospital where he did not manage to see another day.
The University students are now demanding for justice blaming the School Administration, Uasin Gishu County government and House Owners for lack of security around the institution.
Crime cases has increased highly with many students’ rooms being broken into and students robbed violently.
This comes as the students are set to start their end semester examinations this week.
