A puppy with a tail growing from the middle of its face has found refuge after being adopted by a rescue charity.
The puppy with the strange appendage was found in the streets roaming out in the cold and in a state of distress.
It has been named Narwhal by its rescuers and it's being held at the Mac’s Mission, a rescue charity that helps dogs in distress.
“Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn”. He’s literally the most magical thing you’ve ever seen, and so happy,” said rescue centre founder Rochelle Steffen.
“Everybody wants to see him. I’ve had so many volunteers have come over and said ‘hey, can we play with Narwhal?’ And it’s now become the thing to take selfies with him because he’s just so cute, " she added.
Narwhal was in the company of another dog when he was rescued.
Rescuers think that the other dog was his father.
Mac's Mission officials say that the young one has generated a lot of interest online with many social media users asking to be with him.
“Everybody has said that it looks like a tail that just didn’t develop fully, like he might have tried to absorb a twin and it just didn’t work all the way,” Mac's Mission founder said.
The Mac's Mission has said that Narwhal is not yet ready to be given away for adoption as he has to be looked after first to ensure that he fully recovers.
