ODM leader Raila Odinga has called upon aspirants taking part in the Kibra parliamentary race to maintain peace ahead of the November 7 contest.
Addressing the press at his Capitol Hill offices in Nairobi on Thursday, Raila stressed on the need for the aspirants to observe calm in the ongoing campaigns.
He also declared his wish to see the different aspirants and their allies hold their campaigns in an organized way, in an exercise his party has also fronted a candidate.
“We would like to see the campaign in Kibra constituency done in a very peaceful and organised way,” said the former Prime Minister.
He said this is the time when Kenya demonstrates that it's a maturing democracy by avoiding any form of violence in the campaigns ahead of the November 7, 2019, by-election.
“There will be no kind of violence in this campaign. We want to show Kenya and the world that Kenya democracy is maturing," he added.
His party is as well involved in the race courtesy of Imran Okoth, brother to the immediate former holder of the seat Ken Okoth who succumbed to colorectal cancer in July.
Others include the ruling Jubilee Party's McDonald Mariga, Ford Kenya's Khamisi Butichi and Eliud Owalo of the Amani National Congress (ANC) party.
