Narok County Senator Ledama Ole Kina on Monday claimed that the case of Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino does to reflect the image of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Babu Owino, who is being held in police custody for allegedly shooting a DJ at B club in Kilimani area, was elected in parliament using an ODM party ticket.
Senator Ledama pointed out that Babu Owino had been elected because of his experience as a vocal university student leader and because he contested through the ODM Party.
"Babu Owino was elected because of one; being Babu Owino, having been a student leader. And number two; because of being a member of the ODM Party. So the fact that Babu Owino found himself in an unfortunate situation does not reflect on the image of the party. So in this case he is an individual, the incident that happened was very unfortunate," Senator Ledama stated during an interview with Citizen TV.
He assured that Owino's ODM Party membership will not interfere or influence the case in any way.
"We leave it to the authorities to be able to carry out investigations and come up with a logical conclusion. Because the fact that Babu Owino is a member of ODM, does not make him a lesser person or more of a person, he is still an individual and is still accountable to his actions," Ledama added.
