In a tweet on Thursday, the party said its National Executive Council (NEC) had endorsed the recommendation by the disciplinary committee to expel Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Suleiman Dori (Msambweni) from the party.

The two were facing disciplinary action from the opposition political outfit for their close association with Ruto.

"NEC has endorsed recommendation by the Disciplinary Committee to expel Hon Aisha Jumwa and Hon Suleiman Dori from the party. National Governing Council of the party to be convened to ratify the recommendation," ODM said in the tweet.

Jumwa and Dori had been ordered to explain why they were associating with a potential presidential candidate from a different party.

On December 4, 2018 party leader Raila Odinga chaired a meeting that adopted a report recommending the expulsion of Jumwa, Dori and seven MCAs- six from Homa Bay and one from Busia. The leaders were also accused of disrespecting Raila.

In August last year, Jumwa and Dori said they were ODM life members and would not leave the party.

"I want to confirm that I am still a life member of ODM and loyal to the party," Dori said.
