Ms Njoki, the wife to popular journalist Milton Nyakundi, died last Tuesday after drowning in River Laikipia in the company of two others.

Area police boss Simon Kipkeu had given contradicting reports to that of investigators who claimed that the two friends reported that incident few minutes only that police delayed in search and rescue.

"The lady was in the company of two friends. She reportedly miscalculated her footsteps and drowned but the friends did not report the matter immediately," he said.

But a journalist, who asked not to be named, said the autopsy showed that her body had injuries, suggesting that she may have been hit and thrown into the river.

He said: "The postmortem shows that the body sustained serious injuries. This now gives the matter a fresh twist. Investigations will have to be properly done and her friends grilled afresh."

Her body has been moved to Umash Funeral home awaiting funeral in Nyakundi's Gusii home on a date to be announced later.

In his long statement, Nyakundi also suspected foul play, adding that it will be difficult for him to move on with their two children.
